  2. Why compare digital to analog rather than digital to digital or analog to analog? This brings in a very large confounding factor apart from the factors that you appear to want to consider.

      • That doesn’t answer his question. Working on the project for 10 months does nothing to alter the fact that with a 35mm rangefinder you cannot see the results until much later while with a dSLR (or a digital rangefinder) you can review your photo right there and then and that adds another factor to thing, which appears to be his question’s basis.

  3. I must admit that I’m a bit confused by your statement that these two types of cameras are on “equal footing” because of their lens aspects. There are a ton of lenses out there for all of the removable lens formats.

      • Couldn’t I just buy a 35mm lens and pop it on my Nikon if I wanted a 50mm-equiv lens? Photographers I know just buy the lens they want and do the math if they have a crop sensor DSLR. They also have a bunch of lenses.

  4. I have read your project and i find it very well-written and precise. But why someone how studies media-cultural spends all of his efforts to analyze the matter of comparing cameras?
